Incorporating the Dilon 6800 into your practice
The Dilon 6800 is uniquely suited to add to any practice or breast-imaging center. Its compact size and portability allow it to be stored out of the way and wheeled into an exam room when needed. Patients can receive same-day evaluation and results for the answers you both need.
Additionally, BSGI procedures can provide another revenue opportunity for your practice. No dedicated space is necessary, so it is easy to incorporate into a practice with minimal cost beyond the equipment. Staff can easily be trained and certified for nuclear medicine safety. Billing codes have been established for nuclear breast imaging and payers have established policies for reimbursement.
Billing Codes for Breast Tumor Imaging Procedures & Imaging Agent
- 78800 Tumor imaging (limited area)

Regulatory considerations: Licensing for Radiopharmaceuticals
All nuclear imaging is accomplished with the use of radiopharmaceuticals. BSGI uses Technetium TC 99m Sestamibi. There are two governing agencies for the storage and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Agreement States. The best resources for determining which regulations and agencies apply are your hospital's radiation safety officer or the state radiation safety office.
